With severe budget cuts in New Orleans schools, many of the young people in the Ninth Ward and the city’s poorer communities are often unable to access music education. By virtue of its location in the Ninth Ward, the Center provides a place where under-served youth can develop both musically as well as academically and socially.

For the adult residents of the Village, the Center offers a place to perform and record, take piano lessons, acquire computer skills, and pass on the traditions of New Orleans music to aspiring musicians.

Our state-of-the-art performance and recording facilities, music library, classrooms and practice rooms are dedicated to serving low income students and adult Village residents, which makes us unique in the New Orleans area.
